1.  Stand in mountain pose (tadasana).
  2. Transfer the weight of your body to the right foot, bend the left knee and lift up, knee in line with the left hip. Place your right hand on the outer left knee. Straighten the leg, changing the grip to holding the outer left foot.
  3. Twist to the left (keeping the hips forward), reach the left arm back, palm facing outward.
  4. Turn your gaze to look over your back hand.
  5. Repeat on the second side.

If straightening the extended leg is not possible. use a strap looped around the sole of the foot or keep the knee bent and hold on to the outside of the knee.
