Stress is detrimental to the quality of our life, both in the way we emotionally feel along with negatively impacting our physical health and wellbeing. Here are a few simple techniques to try in order to release the hold that stress has on you.
DISRUPT THE NARRATIVE:
When your mind is racing, and you become aware of it label it “THINKING” to break the cycle. Then focus on taking a few slower deep breaths, saying inhale and exhale to yourself as you’re breathing. Repeat this concept as needed to slow down your mind.
LOOK WITHIN:
Once you get a handle on slowing down your racing mind, dig deeper. What life lessons have you been taught about having to be busy to have worth, or do you consider a balanced life a failure. Become curious about the “why”.
FIND TIME FOR THE POSITIVE:
Intentionally create time to focus on what’s going well. Begin a daily gratitude practice, find 3 things that are new + good. Cultivating a positive mindset is just like getting better at anything in life, its simply requires practice.
